Husband and I are flying down to Florida on an airplane at this very moment. The housesitter is prepared, caring for our menagerie and watching over our home. My sister awaits us in Disney World, where we three adults will play like kids among the Disney parks, unsupervised, possibly with liquor.

I know, I'm living a privileged and charmed life.

My sister is interning for Disney in a fantastic opportunity to bolster her resume and her work ethic. She gets free passes for family. We're capitalizing on her opportunity.

So, my goal is to take advantage of getting to experience a childhood playground without giving over my wallet to the Disney corporation. No Disney paraphernalia or souvenirs, little inside the park food, and no paying to get in.

Meanwhile, my garden blooms without me. The pink and purple lupine is in full effect, with people stopping and asking me what flowers are growing in my front yard. The peony has burst forth like a red firework. Hardy geraniums tumble over themselves in purple hues. Yarrow blooms yellow among blue-grey, feathery foliage. Agastache towers with spikes of magenta.

Along the walkway, I have planted new starts of variegated oregano, roman chamomile, Mexican sage, and lemon thyme. Between these herbs grows phlox, columbine, snapdragon, and echinacea. No doubt it make for an interesting look as things grow.

In raised garden beds are Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, Swiss chard, Bok choy, lettuces, leeks, onions, radishes, cucumbers, peas, and beets. The maple tree is filling out, and has started to shade this garden, but these plants should be all right. I also mixed in cosmos, marigolds, zinnias, and nasturtium. They prefer bright sun, but I'm hoping to eke out a few flowers to attract pollinators.

The animals are healthy and happy and have a caring person watching over their well being.

Disneyfied pictures coming soon. Meanwhile, here's a photo of the Nelly Moser clematis twining itself about the rail of the front stoop:
